enslave or terminate

ENSLAVE OR TERMINATE

Now do you see what feedback does ( and, yes, I myself also see what greater participation does )?  Here I am using a wonderful minions idea, and just a few days ago I spent serious money buying a couple of books on ancient black powder production at the state level AFTER a minion got me involved in a conversation over it.  Today’s article, easily classified under “my goodness, the genius of the man is impossible to classify”, what will we see in our immediate future, a government hell-bent on enslaving us or one that finds it easier to just kill us all?  Now, the little girl in me would normally just scream in a high pitched squeal and proclaim that you are all idiots and of course we are all going to die because the FedGov hates uppity serfs.  However, this being a Friday AND what appears to be not the start of Spring but at least a sneak preview, I’m in a magnanimous mood and shall go the logical route instead of the emotional and explain why in fact this may or may not be the case.  Summed up, followed by nauseating detail, I see it as being a localized enslavement and a nationalized die-off.  If that makes any sense.  First off, we know one of the two is a given.  High population meeting resources diminishing obviously equal die-off.  But to get to which one and why we have to ask the question of why slavery is going to benefit our rulers.

*

The reason slavery is a given throughout history prior to our current petroleum slaves is that it is a form of cheap and easy energy.  As you can see from our once upon a time petroleum surplus, a source of cheap and easy energy brings out the worse in people.  The greed knows no bounds and the norm becomes Behaving Badly.  Look what we did because we could, thanks to that energy. We concentrated the wealth into the hands that controlled the energy, then abolished the Constitution by stealing all power from the states.  We killed off the last of the indigenous population, then moved on to killing off little brown people overseas.  We financed a war in which Europeans slaughtered each other, then killed off our own settling the conflict in favor of the side which owed us the most loans, then sowed the seeds for another world conflict by financing another German uprising.  Then we killed a few million civilians with firebombing and nukes.  Then the oil really started to flow as we colonized every Third World country not under control of the Soviets.  I don’t bring this up to underline our evil empire but simply to make a point.  If a rich and free people could be enticed to turn evil over surplus energy, imagine the temptation all other civilizations faced.  Of COURSE slavery was practiced everywhere for all time.

*

As stated previously, a slave saves you the cost of raising a child and then training them.  And more often than not, their upkeep is almost free ( besides the cost of enforcement ).  Now, the cost was probably on par with our current law enforcement entities.  When you have something like one cop per thousand people, the bite from taxes to police everyone isn’t all that great.  If all it took for you to get all the food you needed, all the manufacturing and mining you wanted, was to get free labor by enslavement, what fool passes up that bargain?  Okay, there is the cost of the military.  You have to drag people in to be your slaves.  But, hey, you need a military anyway, to protect yourself from your neighbors, so really the cost there is also minimal.  So, if the military is also the cops, you get a “three-fer” for your money.  Protection, law enforcement and free labor to run your society.  You as supreme ruler of the universe, merely need to raise a military and all your problems are solved.  So, why wouldn’t we duplicate this?  For the simple reason that enslaving 99 out of a hundred Americans would COST you money.  We are obese, and have zero training in almost any useful occupation.  We can’t do much physical labor without dying and we have no skills in a pre-petroleum economy.  Of course, this won’t stop local governments from enslaving you.  They will just keep feeding warm bodies into the fields for hoeing and reaping.  A high turnover rate is immaterial.  There will be a lot more guards, to process the extra bodies, and to keep order because most likely the calorie intake will not match output and some might rebel before they die.

*

The national government on the other hand has no need for nearly useless eaters.  They can control the oil production and the farming and transportation.  We already have corporate control of industrialized farming ( and are practicing shutting down transportation via TSA ), and if you have been paying attention you know the corporates and the rulers are butt buddies.  The corporations will still make a profit even under post-apocalyptic conditions.  Right now, they profit from subsidies and selling to Americans.  Tomorrow it will be subsidies and selling to Chinese or other foreigners.  The FedGov can easily keep the mechanized farms going with almost no warm bodies, and they will.  So, if Americans are no longer employed and paying their banker and corporate and government masters, what good are they?  Kill them all off.  The machines, on a centralized level, will continue on for them ( “Terminator” without SkyNet ).  The national government just needs soldiers, and the slaves will continue to be petroleum rather than bodies.  The locals, in areas the Feds don’t need, have no way to get any inputs to continue any petroleum machines and so will have no choice but to go medieval.  So, we will have the worst of both worlds and where you live will determine if you are killed or turned into a slave.  Southern California, Texas and Oklahoma and other oil patches- kill em.  Port areas, kill em.  Midwest farms, so few already there they can stay on as operators for the machines ( with geriatrics and other surplus folks allowed to die off from lack of medications or what not ).  Perhaps Rawles Redoubt isn’t as bad an idea as it seems, if the Feds don’t need those areas.  Just beware your local strongman.  The future sure is going to be interesting.

  1. Once again Nobody will want to live here in this mosquito infested malaria trap without air conditioning. Let alone you cannot grow food easily without pesticides, even though the weather is warm and allows two growing seasons. However if one is versed in the local flora, there is a plethora to forage from. Very little gardening needed.
Them yuppie slaves might well come in handy fer gator bait tho. Yee Haw

Figure this area will empty out of people quickern my Bowels after eating Bubbas famous spicy pork brats...

    1. I actually envy you your plan. To a degree. Whether I'd want to emulate it...

  2. With Respect to the both of you;

If you're speaking of the area of the continental United States, that would fit Mr. Spud's description, then this plan would have a huge gaping hole in it as provided by Lord Bison of the Great Basin, namely that this "mosquito infested malaria trap" would be rich in petroleum energy resources and thus deemed valuable by the Energy Masters who are in cahoots with the Federal Government. In other words because of the valuable natural resources, the human population would by necessity be eradicated, to ease the extraction process and ignore the blatant ecological damage wrought by careless contractors who no longer have the oversight of a vigilant population and a active 'fourth estate' who isn't kowtowed to the same corporate/statist interests. While I agree that a jungle is no place to fight an offensive counter-guerrilla war (please see Vietnam 300 A.D. to 1975 A.D. for example), however Lord Bison realistically postulates that the situation is now a total war, with the eradication of any and all surplus human populations the ultimate goal, along with the preservation of the early twenty-first century lifestyle for the Corporate/Statist Masters and their chosen lackeys. This being said, it is a quick conference that decides to open the genie's bottle of Modern Weapons of Mass Destruction to decide once and for all the victory of the Corporate/Statist Masters over everyone else. How does the common man resist, without the resources of their enemies, especially without such science fiction technologies as self-contained suspended animation, semi-autonomous security sentry robots and very deep underground fortresses which could sustain multiple megaton direct hits from subsurface penetrator strategic nuclear weapons? It would not be out of place in this scenario to recommend that if this be a road likely traveled by the people in the near future, it would be wise for these people to advocate the proliferation of the same weapons of mass destruction as a very real method of evening the battlefield of the future. However many would never even consider such personal ownership of said devices, due to conditioning by the same state that desires their destruction. However looking through the pale that is the deliberate deception of the Corporate/Statist Masters, then the only true path to salvation would be the proliferation and eventual possession/use of the same weapons as the masters, thus causing true equilibrium of the body politic and Mutual Assured Destruction by those who decide to use said weapons. Keep keeping it Real James!

    1. Well, this isn't like a bunch of rock tip spear owning Indians being killed by modern firearms, per se. The immediate result is the same, but long term all these weapons you speak of are very energy intense and highly infrastructure dependent. The fact that this high energy system is falling apart gives us some hope of surviving our well armed masters.

    2. Damn son , ya act like ur gonna live forever lol
I agree with Sir James, takes infrastructure to keep the complex running.
Nope ain't no petro anywhere near me less it is offshore out in the gulf. Around here the only hydrocarbons is the methane which I tap for my generator. This is all coming from bio mass not petroleum reserves.

    1. Well, perhaps. Or perhapse they will have their hands full with energy and food. Unless they need the gold to buy machinery from China, but I think China will prefer the energy first. I hope.

  4. As you stated this is the blueprints and plans on the shelf. when it comes, there will be a balkanization amongst tribes, regions, and fedgov dirty dealing with the local strongman. expect an immediate 50 to 100 million die off from various elements-causes. only two potentials for surviving past a die off, be valuable person in valuable areas or fields of expertise. be so far out of the way and out of sight and out of mind energy is not wasted to kill you or enslave you when other fish are around to fry.

    1. Other than forces outside their control, I can see the govt. wanted about 300 million of us gone. It doesn't have to be fancy, just screw up the food transportation and famine and disease will do the rest. After regaining control, resettlement, play with your drones to mop up those left.

  5. Got to thinking about this OP of yours, and it drives a couple of questions:
Where do your soldiers come from if you kill all the (wage) slaves? Machines are fine as far as they go but you always need plenty of soldiers to man the remotes and to repair the planes.
And if the elite have figured out their way around that then what has stopped them from using a couple hundred high altitude neutron bombs to sterilize most of the cities of human life, to reduce the demands for the limited energy? Now neutron bombs aren't cheap, but they leave infrastructure mostly intact, and you just need a small (relative to the pop of the city) clean up crew to dispose of the bodies and secure against the rare survivors. So why havent the elite gone ahead and used them?
If they have answered the first question satisfactorily for themselves the only other response to the second is that they must be factionalized (likely along national or ethnic lines) and that the cost of doing it to their domains would leave them ruinously culnerable to invasion from others, and that doing it to others would cause an enmity to be solved via similar attack, leaving a third party to take out both.
I still think that the Neutron bomb extermination plan is in their plans which is why I stay as far from major megopoli as possible, they are hashing out who goes first and how far, and under what MSM cover story.

    1. The masses must still have a postitive wealth effect or we wouldn't be here. I don't know at what point on the downturn in energy supplies that changes. But it will. Just as the Nazi's had already figured out how many labor hours a slave had in them before inadequate calories killed him, I'm sure our leaders know when to pull the plug on 90% of us ( or 95%, still plenty to man the machines and military )-already figured out.
