more investments

MORE INVESTMENTS
Before we begin today desperately flailing about for a half assed article subject, let’s cover the end of the world and then my new book.  I’m pretty pissed off right now, it being twelve hours into the 21st and STILL the damn world has not ended according to the Mayan calendar.  Thanks for nothing you bastards.  And if any of you New Age Hippie pop smoking crystal wearing jerk off punk ass bitches come out and “discover” a new and improved date we now have to worry about, I swear to Gaia I’ll jam a dull jelly knife into your eye.  As for my new book, the one you all know and love, “Apocalypse Gun Porn”, obviously from the ad at the top of this page it is now for sale on Kindle.  There is an added 20% material you never read on this blog, but truthfully it is stuff I’ve already talked about.  You won’t miss anything if you don’t buy it, although obviously I’d think you were all swell if you did.

The World’s Mostest Wonderful Yuppie Survivalist Blog has been a huge fan of hoarding nickels for years.  Now once again you are advised to immediately stockpile huge amounts of semi-automatic magazines in anticipation of a likely gun control legislation being ejaculated with orgasmic delight upon the Land Of The Former Free by the commie puke pack.   I’m not saying either is bad advice ( okay, I’ve said nickels were stupid because post-apocalypse likely there would be no smelting for them and it was iffy if anyone would use them as coins since historically only gold, silver or copper is a natural store of value.  Pennies are a pain to sort, but since there are no more surface high concentration copper ore spots left the copper coins already out there will sell at a premium post-collapse ), just bad advice for anything other than a “greater fool” taking them off your hands.  What you are doing investing in either is counting on a greater fool to come along, BEFORE collapse, and buy them from you at a premium which will cover the costs of inflation and leave you with a profit.  Good luck with that, because eventually no more fools exist that have any purchasing power ( there will still be an overabundance of fools, but they will be broke ).

Now, I understand that nickels only come AFTER the full stockpile of beans and bullets.  And that in theory semi mags are the new hot crap category of investment, some of which you can use yourself, others to be used as barter.  But what the hell good are nickels?  They are essentially hoards of an Industrial Age metal.  Post Industrial Age, nickels are next to worthless.  As a survival tool, they are unnecessary.  So they are a “here and now” investment.  Sure, they are much better than entrusting any financial institution with your surplus wealth.  I don’t care what those are, the only guarantee with paper/digital wealth is they will either be wiped out come inflation, or stolen before then by insider theft.  So if I had a quazillion bucks, nickels would make a slight bit of sense.  For the middle class schmuck, no dice.  You can never have enough food stored up.  THAT is a true investment.  Perhaps thirty years ago we could collapse and go back to an agrarian life, but since those assumptions were widely adapted a lot has changed.  Our aquifers are depleted or poisoned, there is a heck of a lot less energy to pump from them, our soils are exhausted ( always replenishable but at the cost of several sacrificed growing seasons and a lot of surplus energy and imported organic material ) and we have a bit of an overpopulation problem now.  Now it makes sense to stockpile a lot more than the traditional one years food supply.  HUMP nickels.  Store a lot more food.

Just as few of us have enough wealth to worry about buying nickels ( a marginal utility future commodities bet, not a survival stockpile item ), few of us have the extra wealth to stockpile a garage full of all kinds of different semi magazines with the intention of selling them in the near future, pre-collapse, for a handsome profit.  You want a profit?  Invest in the companies stock that manufactures ten rounders ( this assumes of course you believe gun control will happen ).  Otherwise, your money is tied up in a bet that there will be future customers for a Nice But Not Needed item, customers with good paying jobs.  You are betting that the ass won’t fall out of the employment market.  You are betting you alone were the smart one to invest and you will find the very few still having the wealth to make you rich.  Are there really that many filthy rich gun-fags out there?  You are betting there are if you stock up on mags with the intention of flipping them.  Your own use, I can almost understand.  You made a questionable investment and won’t give up on it so you keep throwing good money after bad ( almost like I was doing buying way too many new books covering our field ).  But other peoples semi’s?  Not a great bet.

If you already have that expensive retreat, too many guns, pallets of ammo, food for an army, you aren’t reading this.  You are paying other authors to personally hold your had and whisper sweet nothings into your gold plated ass, desperately racking your brain trying to think where to put all those worthless dollars.  How many of us actually have this problem?  It is all very fine and good to read Yuppie Survival sites ( always SOME information that you can use ), just don’t think you are in the class that can afford to follow all, or even most, of the advice.

  1. Lord Bison of the Great Basin;

    Why do you continue to shill for that Jerk up in Boundary County, Idaho and all of his monkey grubbing supporters? Lord knows that you're real and he's a worthless pile of ex-commissioned officer trash. Honestly James, while those of us who actually take the techniques you teach seriously, have learned far more in real survival than a thousand of those fools in the redoubt. Targeting being a stone cold bitch, all the cool kids know come the reckoning, everyone and his overweight supervisor will have the redoubt leveled, to end the potential levels of resistance that could be found there. It's better like you constantly preach about living on some junk land in the sticks, keeping a low profile, so that life just passes you by. Keep keeping it real James!

  4. Like all investment advice, people tell you what you need to do after it is too late to do it. The time to have bought up magazines (if this is to your liking) was months, if not years, ago.

    Same thing happens with the stock market. The media outlets talk about the next big stock to invest in AFTER the powers that be have bought it up and partially jacked up the price. Then, they rely on the suckers to plunk their money down so they can reap their profit.
