WE DON’T NEED NO STINKING JOBS
Rush has been talking about the shrinking “workforce participation rate” for some time now.  So you gotta give him credit for that.  Of course, typical of Rush, everything is Obammy’s fault.  I can’t imagine how perfect it must have been during the Bush years.  As one wag commented, we should almost wish that Obammy got re-elected so that when it all falls apart, it is a Democrats fault and the party will die.  Bad news, though.  You are just throwing the communists out of office.  The National Socialists are still there.  I don’t blame Obammy for much of anything new.  He is just as bad as any other big daddy Washington DC hack.  If Bush had pulled a Putin and put a puppet in to front for him while he waited out one term, things would still be as bad today.  Because everyone is just reading from a script.  It’s called “declining empire from shrinking resource base” and it’s played on Broadway many times before.  Every administration going back God knows how long has fudged the official figures.  You have to go back to The Great Depression to get real, honest to goodness, unmanipulated unemployment numbers ( the U-6 comes close- as a basic rule, just double the official number ).  Surely, everybody knows the site “shadow stats”?  A great resource for undoing most of the state propaganda.  The newest official fudging is our glorious leaders not adjusting for the shrinking number of jobs.

Look, let’s make it simple.  The US has 100 jobs.  90 folks work.  You have a ten percent unemployment rate.  Next year, the number of jobs available shrinks to 95.  90 people still work.  But the unemployment rate has official shrank.  Get it?  And this is what is happening.  Between the shrinking jobs available and the growing number of folks that stopped looking for work, the unemployment rates are going down.  This looks like a recovery to people in DC.  Plus, look at that stock market grow!  Let’s discount the possibility that the market is rigged.  I think it is, but I also recognize that I’m overly paranoid ( my co-workers have great fun singing “Worry, Be Happy” after experiences a few years of my doom and gloom paranoid pronouncements ).  Even if the market is run on the straight and true, just the rate of inflation makes it look like growth.  If inflation is 10%, and the Dow goes from 10k to 11k in one year, that isn’t anything other than stocks reflecting the rate of inflation.  And the funny thing here?  We all intuitively agree with the above.  But we still accept the lie on another level.  Why else are we still living in huge metro areas, paying into a pension and making mortgage payments?

On to other news, Germany has announced it is looking into a new tax on young workers.  The welfare pukes and old dudes are getting WAYYYY too much money and the government is busy bailing out Greece.  They are growing broke.  I admire that they are actually playing off the top of the deck.  If revenues go down, raise taxes.  Here, we just get into more debt to the central bank.  I think the Germans are smarter than us, although I’m not sure about their Arab population being such a grand idea ( one assumes most new taxes will be paid by these migrant workers, so it should get little opposition from the white boys ).  We already have the same thing here.  The young are taxed to pay for the Social Security checks the old dudes are receiving.  Of course, it isn’t called a tax.  I’m not fooled.  My only consolation is the younger old bastards are going to get just as screwed on the program as I am.

Today, Friday, I’m listening to the radio and it is announced that a jet went down in Virginia ( I think that is the right place ).  The announcer stated that two apartment building were on fire, but the two pilots ejected safely.  End of news snippet.  Now, you might not think anything about it, but to me it was deeply disturbing.  Why?  Because civilian casualties were not a consideration.  In effect, our glorious warriors were safe, and nothing else matters.  I’m not saying the pilots were in error, I’m not placing blame.  I’m saying that this sounds seriously like an old Communist Pravda article or an announcement from the Nazi’s.  “Our glorious troops, fighting to save the Fatherland from the approaching Bolshevik onslaught,  shelled the town to stop the advance”.  No mention is made of civilian casualties.  Even if it was Germans.  And if it was mentioned, the people valiantly gave up their lives for the greater good, blah, blah.  By putting military personnel on a greater plain than civilians, the government in effect is pointing to itself in a semi-deity status.  They have done this for decades with civil servants ( “the noble public safety worker,  courageously risking his life for a mere twice the private sector wages…” ), but it is a bit much to take when the military lives are much more highly regarded than mere taxpayers.  You know, the people the military is supposed to protect.  No reflection on the military, my beef here is with the government and its propaganda machine.

  1. Just to pick a nit as they say with you Jim. Note how everyone complains about this and that concerning the military and yet will go out of their way to exclude the actual grunts themselves. In the old days (Vietnam, WWII, etc) this might have been valid as those guys were "forced" to be there. These days guys are there because they chose to be there and are, in essence, part of the problem.

  2. Those comments of elevating The Federal Worker and Law Enforcement has gone on for years. YOU DON'T NEED ASSAULT WEAPONS LIKE WE DO (why not, are the lifes of Feds and LEOS more important than citizens?).

Armored vehicles given / purchased by our LEOs are not to protect the citizens - they are to protect the LEOs. No way would they risk using them to save the lives of mere citizens, the paint job might get scratched.
