BOHICA

BOHICA
Bend Over, Here It Comes.  What I once referred to as The Big Green Weenie when I was in the service.  While I’m glad I went into the Army, I’m gladder ( more glad? ) I got out.  I don’t know why so many people hero worship the whole concept of military service.  It ain’t like it is a warrior tribe.  It is an armed bureaucracy.  The higher ups have no compunction about killing off the lower grades, in or out of peacetime, almost as if they were the noble knights of old and the enlisted are the equivalent of the farmer armed with a pitchfork, forced to act as fodder on the front lines as the mounted fighters waited on the flanks for the cavalry charge.  I mean, here you are a farmer peasant, and you pay the king his 20% ( The King’s Fifth ) in crops or livestock.  Then, as if that wasn’t enough because sometimes that cut would have kept your family much healthier through a famine and one or more wouldn’t have died off from malnutrition, then you have to go fight an invader with inferior weapons and training.  And that is how today’s military is used ( especially the inferior weapons part ).  The officers, with delusions of grandeur, and the illusion of proper training, oozing incompetence audible to the masses ( even the really stupid ones who though the military was a bang up career move ), indoctrinated with contempt towards the common soldier, are dangerous as hell.  Sure, I hated them for their stupidity, their inability to recognize their stupidly (  a lot of us in the lower ranks recognized our idiocy, simply didn’t care because using our brains was above our pay grade, and went back to drinking beer ) and their false sense of entitlement, but mostly I hated officers because I knew they could get me killed.  Nay, were trained to get me killed, no “could” about it.  It is one thing to give your life for your country, another to give your life for the career of your leader.  BOHICA is the civilian equivalent of that whole concept.  And you didn’t even enlist.

When you enlist in the military, most likely you did it because you were patriotic and also wanted to kill someone.  I wanted to kill commie pinko Russkies, the boys nowadays want to kill towel heads.  Not much difference.  I imagine the 18 year olds in 1941 didn’t much care if they got to kill Nips or Krauts, at least they got to kill some fuzzy foreigner. But of course there is always another dimension to the thing.  We would try to kill someone for free, but the silly government agrees to pay us.  Not that we have a lot of choice.  A lot of times, the military is the only choice for a job.  Yet, because we went into the military “voluntarily” ( there is no excuse for the mistreatment of conscripts, as they weren’t there voluntarily, but some of the worse abuses- radiation exposure, for instance- happened to them ), the hump sticks in charge thinks that gives them the right to endanger their lives on a whim.  They are treated as medieval peasants because they wanted to be one, goes the thinking.  But what choice does a kid growing up in a ghetto or a rural backwater with 50% unemployment have?  It isn’t all that voluntary.  But be all that as it may.  At least an American citizen had the option of opting out of this kind of relationship, no matter how unappetizing the alternative ( such as dying in a ghetto crime spree or living their whole lives on Food Stamps living out of a shed on daddies land at the bottom of a holler fed by a coal polluted stream ).  Now, the military enlistment has come to the bulk of civilians.  You are now being treated as poorly as any enlisted puke in the military ever was.

I used to be astounded at the complete lack of personal choice ever afforded us in the military.  The phrase, “we’ll tell you when you can shit” was not an exaggeration.  That level of control is now being exercised by our many levels of government and people act as if it’s normal.  No one thinks banning trans-fats, or smoking in any building or dictating that non-property owners must only be fed if their food contains enough fiber, or any other type of micro control is abnormal.  Here we are in “the land of the free” and you can’t decide for yourself how to flush that crap you just took, or what kind of food you could eat to create that turd ( try buying raw milk if you would like a lesson on freedom of choice ).  We are much more heavily regulated and dictated to than many folks in third world banana republics.  Not that many of us care.  As long as we can fill up on Canadian tar for the SUV, get good cell phone reception and can watch sixty three channels of sports, we gladly follow the sergeants orders.  We are all whores, and cheap ones at that.  The kind of crack whore that falls to her scabbed knees for ten cents on the dollar when the next drug fix is needed.  Which is all well and good.  We most likely deserve the contempt our rulers show us.  We can’t fight back over the most outrageous grievances.  And to communicate that contempt, the following Supreme Court ruling pretty much sums it up.  If it inconveniences the government, we won’t let civil rights, decency or a modicum of respect stand in the way.

If you get arrested for the most minor infraction, the smallest deviation from the rules, you get strip searched.  Bend over, baby, we’re going to insert fist and pry apart your ass for inspection.  This isn’t an example of government abuse and disregard of our rights.  It is an example of how far we’ve allowed ourselves to be debased.  It is the end game of eighty years of selling our souls for a few sheckles.  Suddenly, it doesn’t seem like such a great price anymore.  And it will get a heck of a lot worse.  More abuse, less Obammy Teet payouts.  In a short time, zero payouts, maximum abuse.  Faustian bargains usually work out like that.  Too bad your great, great grandfather didn’t decline to sign on the dotted line, selling us all into bondage.

  3. "If it inconveniences the government, we won’t let civil rights, decency or a modicum of respect stand in the way." I just read an article about "Homelessness Becomes A Crime In Hungary" and it truly amazes me that government officials across the entire globe are so stupid and incompetent. So let me get this straight...the guy is homeless, has no job and is malnourished...so the gov't decides to fine him $650 and if he can't pay, throw his sorry ass in jail...that'll teach him, By God! Jesus...we truly do deserve everything we get to allow buffoons to lord over us.
